What to expect in upcoming days

Nothing has changed. If you could find 10,000 links for one file yesterday, tomorrow you'll have to hunt harder to find 1,000 or 100. In essence, the only change is a decrease in quantity. Warez never was and never will be dependent on a bunch of filehosts that award users to upload copyrighted content.

Who's affected? A lot of people. Mostly the ones that depended on filehost cash and called it a 'career'. The script coders are coders, they'll find something else to code. The bot coders, are again, coders; they'll find something to code and earn from. The RDP sellers/provider may face a temporary setback, but there's a lot of demand out there.

So who stands to lose from this? No one except the ones that had dreams of earning from filehosts until the time they 'retired'. Retirement just came early for them. Time to find a new hobby, learn a new skill, and invest time in something that is sustainable.

So, you either disagree, or agree? You can't start with first sentence: Nothing has changed, and then in next 10 lines say this is affected, that is affected. If something is affected, that thing will need to adopt, or disappear. But it's still a change.

5% of internet traffic is GONE, forever. Megaupload's traffic. How can you say it won't change anything? I am not talking here about warez forums, I am actually talking about everything else, besides warez forums. On top of those 5% from megaupload (50.000.000 PV a day) add 500.000.000 pageviews from filesonic, and approx same from fileserve per month. That is ENORMOUS traffic. There were LOTS of services that were dependent on that traffic, beside those 3 companies. ISPs, carriers, server providers, hardware providers, and anyone involved. First effects are shown in this example: Cogent
For other events, its just a matter of days.

Internet has it's own life. It's like eco-system, like in real life. If you take down one specie, other species in chain, that are dependant on that specie, will die with it.

I don't see the need for the bitching and fear of getting sued. Few file hosts took the chance to move to legal business and made it look like they had to remove their affiliate program because of the Megaupload bust. Megaupload bust is bigger than what we all think.

Nothing has changed, some of them are out of the game, but new players are getting more popularity. Webmasters who had "filehost-keyword" domain names, will simply redirect them to their new websites. Visitors will request certain applications, films, tv series and video games. Webmasters and uploaders will go through the trackers or blogs for the files, and simply re-upload them to some other file host with one of those scripts or manually. But the point is, nothing has changed.

Not sure what you consider a change, but saying contradict things in single sentence like: Nothing has changed, some of them are out of the game... That is mindblowing...that IS a CHANGE...

And this is only 3 days old. Question was, what can you see that WILL going to change. If you transform 5% of internet, it's already CHANGED forever. There is no purpose in saying: Nothing has changed, BECAUSE IT IS.

Even WJ will suffer drastic changes.

More Cash Whore programs closing, maybe even more File Host closings.

No one seems to realize this has also scared the people that advertise on file hosts sites so the file host revenue is way down.

In 2 weeks sBorg, RL, and RDP suppliers start to close shop as their payments to their providers come due.

Warez sites that relied on income from file hosts are closing and will continue to close.

Some sites will begin going underground operating by donation only, close registrations and block search engines, etc. to stay online.

The herd is getting thinned out big time.

It's a very good thing because ppl involved in filesharing (cashwhore-spammer kind) have now a chance to find more creative ways to earn money online.

What I'm trying to say is, just because few of them left the game - it doesn't mean that other players won't be replacing them. Of course, change happened the minute they decided to remove the affiliate program, and Megaupload bust also affected a lot of people. But this is the digital age, people make backups... In a month or so, everything will get back to normal.

What in the World is Happening to the DDL World

Inforcer,
I am a newbie to this site but I have been around since the inception of Napster, followed by E-Mule, than to Bitorrents, Direct Downloads and now the Usenet sites and in reading your diatribe above, I have no idea what message you are trying to convey...
Please explain how you view the current events in a way that everyone can understand because if you have been around this scene like I and others have you must surely be able to explain your views in a more coherent manner.
I myself, although new to this board, have been around filesharing in it's varied forms as described above. What I see with the current events is that Megaupload had infuriated the entertainment industry by thumbing its nose at their power over the past few years culminating in the recent YouTube video which had hollywood and music talent performing in a YouTube video promoting the Megaupload service. This is what I believe caused this raid in such a manner that everyone in this scene is now being Scared Straight!

It is unclear as to whether companies like Filesonice, Fileserve, and the others are currently being targeted as it is clear that the Feds and their allies put a lot of resources into busting Mr Dotcom and his egaupload empire. Mr Dotcom had put himself out there with his huge ego and extravagant lifestyle basically flaunting his wealth for all to see. Unfortunately for him, he was involved in a business model that is dependent on illegal copyright infringement whether he knew about it or not. Let's face it, Mr Dotcom's background in illegal activities certainly will not help him going forward with his current legal troubles.

With all this being said, it is possible that the reverberations coming from this action will blow over and as stated above by the original post, if the Internet is like a living organism, new companies will be created and others that are currently going to whether the storm will grow stronger.

As with Napster before that was blown up at its height which was followed by E-Mule and the continual raid on their huge Server Farms along with the rise of Bitorrent which lead to E-mules decline, filesharing marches on.

When Bitorrent was being challenged by lawsuits, direct downloads came down like manna from heaven. As direct downloading has taken off, Usenet began to bloom and blossom. I guess after this long winded post I am trying to say that not all is lost and out of every disaster the sun continues to rise and life continues to move forward.

I for one joined this site to stay informed on this topic and find ideas as to where we all go from here.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

To be honest I think MU is nuts asking Hollywood singers to do them a promotional vid knowing the nature of their company. Lol they're asking for it and they got it.

I want to add 1 of the effects I am seeing already is a huge reduction in multiposter spam bot posts from Viet Nam. They use the 2 FS hosts that are down normally.

I am also seeing a huge reduction in posts on sites running link checkers.
