Ubuntu is a newb distro, but I do like Ubuntu server strictly because it's easy as hell to set up and works fairly well. Plus you have the launchpad ppa's.

I use Debian(Etch) as my main OS, then OSX on occasion. Fits my needs. I suck at gaming so I really don't care about it, lol.

Windows Vista, because i like having stupid OS's LOL.

No but Vista cuz, that's what came on my computer. I ordered;

www.win741.com though, can't wait to get it on the 22nd!!!! (fuck getting a pirated one lol)

Most of you use linux.. I think it's time to switch..
Thanks for your replies guys, much appreciated.

Oh, if I go for linux, do I also need an an antivirus?

Thanks!

xp, seriously can't be bothered updating my operating system every 10 years..

EDIT:

@ pi0

yesh! if you have an enemy, who knows someone who is clever you will get screwed with no antivirus, would also get a firewall

I don't wanna talk more because I really don't know a lot about linux but I think the majority of the stuff is open source/free

I see.
And do you know how to put two os'es on one hdd ( i have 2 partitions already )
On starting my PC, I want an option where I can choose between linux or vista.
Cheers :)

my best advice from what I know is for you to install vmware which lets you run linux in its own window whilst you are on xp/vista/7/whatever

learn it all then eventually learn more

If Windows is installed first, popular linux distros like Ubuntu will detect it and automatically configure the bootloader so you can boot into both Windows and Ubuntu.

I keep on running Vista because I really can't be arsed finding linux-based applications to replace the windows-based ones I use. For a server I prefer linux (obvious!)

Whoo, if you make your system dual boot with say Ubuntu and install the Latest Wine you can just startup your Windows apps. For example my favorite editor in linux is still notepad++ via wine. :p
