I am looking for a server that I can download files to it from HTTP sites and upload those files because my home connection is too slow for that. I dont need it to run a website. Just to act as my PC (downloading to it and uploading from it) Im kind of clueless in this field and I dont know what kind of server do I need (VPS?). So I would appreciate on advice

You need a Virtual Desktop, also called a Terminal Server. You can find those here on WJ, they go by the name "RDP" (Remote Desktop Protocol) for some reason.
Check out the offers here.

What this is is basically a Windows Server and you get a profile on that server. From what ive heard there is always one assho... ehm, one guy that just hogs the CPU and since every server has 25 thousand accounts on it (figuratively speaking) you sometimes won't be able to "work" until that user is done zipping his porn collection.
You might consider a Windows VPS, where you also have Admin rights to install anything you want. Sure, the are a bit more expensive but worth it if you ask me. Go to OVH for example.

You need a server with windows OS. I recommend for Windows VPS or RDP server.
You can contact us on Skype for live chat if you need any other information. Our Skype: ViridWeb

Well if you are feeling freaky, you can also use a Linux VPS and install a GUI and a VNC server on it. (Google Ubuntu VNC)

Thanks for your answers. . Maniac, I definitely dont want something I share with other people but also not something expensive. I would not keep the files on the server. I only want to download them and upload them to other hosts. So from your answer RDP is not the answer here. And yes, windows platform would be preferred. OVH seems to expensive. I was thinking about something between 10-20 bucks a month. Just something reliable, good speeds and no need for a lot of disk space

you can try http://strato.com
as long as you don't use strange torrents, they are good. (the service is normally very good)
for around 20$ you get:

  • 4 CPU vCores
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 400 GB SSD/HDD
  • Traffic Unlimited @ 100Mbit

you can also try webtroipa with windows for around 10$ with 500Mbit unlimited traffic
https://www.webtropia.com/
but they are sometimes a bit picky about torrents and the service is sometimes not that friendly.
virid is a reseller of them for dedicated systems (to be more precise, they are also reseller of servdiscount, a branch of webtropia)
on dedicated servers, they will charge you additional 20€ per Month for windows-OS.

If you want to have s.th. for torrenting from public torrents think about netherlands.
but all VPS system with windows on them in netherlands i know (and would recommend) are above your price-limit.

Hello,

With our Leechbox (Rapidleech) services you can do exactly that without a vps and with a lot of more feautures and advantages than a vps.

Regards

If its only about to download from Filehosts (http) and upload to your own Filehosting account
then you dont need any server or VPS or RDP
just use https://premium.rpnet.biz/
So you can get unlimited premium Direct link from top file hosts
then re upload them via Remote Upload using those generated Direct links

simple
so it will cost you less, also service is stable and usefull

Regards

Go to a few hosting review sites and read what people have said, there is a high chance that a host has written positive things about himself so you are looking for negative reviews because those will tell you the truth.

Just to make it clear. My pupose is NOT to download files from filehosing services, but to dowload files from regular HTTP sites (fast) and then upload it (fast)to filehosting sevices which I already have a premium account there. There is no need for torrents use. Can I do that?

As I told you before, If you need to Download and upload the file then you should go for VPS or RDP services.
Ping me if you need any more information..

I would recommend you getting yourself a pretty cheap VPS linux server, and use that one with a SFTP server so that you can connect to it using software like FileZila.
It's easy to download something with a linux machine using WGET (Simple command line to start the download), and then with the SFTP connection you can go and download the files from your home.

Let me know if that works out for you :)

I believe VpsNine.com is flexible and stable enough to satisfy all your specific requirements and keep your web sites always online.
They have some nice locations at good prices like Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand, South Africa.
