SEO keeps changing, and I am wondering what types of backlinks are working best in 2025. Are guest posts, niche edits, or authority links still effective? What’s getting real results for you lately?

Honestly, the best backlinks are the ones you don’t have to game. If your content is useful, or you’ve built something people care about, the links come naturally.

I’ve had the most luck lately by reaching out and actually *helping* bloggers or contributing where it adds value — not just dropping a link and running. Guest posts still work if they’re on legit sites with real traffic, and niche edits only matter if they make sense in context.

Long story short: forget the shady stuff. Focus on earning links from places that matter. Takes longer, but it’s the only thing that keeps working.

Unpopular opinion, but I believe backlinks that generate traffic are the best. It's not directly "the best for SEO", but driving traffic and spreading the word helps a lot with obtaining organic backlinks.

I hate to be a bitch but...
The year 2015 just called you and it wants it's backlink advice back.

These days the secret to success is advertising and exploiting niches.

Here’s what’s currently working best for backlinks in 2025 based on trends:
  • Links from real, high-authority websites within relevant, well-written content. Reason Google’s algorithms
  • Getting your link placed in existing, aged, relevant articles with organic traffic.
  • Guest posts still work, but only on genuine, well-maintained blogs with real readership.
  • Sites built solely for guest posting or with outbound link overload are now heavily devalued.
  • Google seems to be giving more weight to unlinked brand mentions and co-citation (contextual proximity to authoritative brands).
  • Building your brand presence even without direct backlinks can help your authority.
