I really believe that the best way to generate REAL fans for your fan page is by providing your audience with free value!
Such as free training's, free tools, free e-books, entertainment, fun facts, etc..
The more value you give to people the more they are going to like you and the more they are going to want to tick with you and even share your page with others!
You just have to be yourself and not worry about what other people might say about you.
You just have to get prepared because not everyone are going to like you!
