What is a webmaster?

So yeah, got me thinking earlier after reading the shoutbox.

So in your opinion what do you class as a webmaster, and what requirements do you think you need to be concidered one.

guy who controls a site with error handling skills is called webmaster

Well my opinion of a webmaster,is a person that operates a website,but also has knowledge of coding in html,php,js etc .. and of course after teh site is up you need traffic to the site so must also have some skills in SEO

Certainly not some 12/15 year old that chucks a nulled script on a shared host & doesn't have a clue what how anything actually functions 8-)

I consider a webmaster someone who can install scripts fix problems with the scripts they install if they get any. What I dont consider a webmaster is people who use free domains and get people to make the site for them like webs.com

Webmaster, there are two opinions for me

1. Webmaster is someone who owns a website(s), operates and knows how to modify and make the site more attractive.

2. Webmaster is someone who owns or owned website(s) nad has knowledge on everything related on the Website like coding designin,etc. with one word, professional in web building.

Someone who owns or has owned multiple sites, knows how to code, and does SEO.
I don't know whether setting up a webserver counts as a webmaster, but in any case, I know how to do that too...

A webmaster should know all about his site, a site run by a senior person is called webmaster in my opinion

I think a webmaster is a person who controls 1 or more website and also knows how to code in language which his website is based on.
