Hello guys, I am having with my website overloading a semidedicated server or it may or may not be an overload, but my server crashes due to my Website. It's a V+bu+llet+in 4.+ And and Usually the Guests go to 200+ or 300+ and After a while my server crashes.

can it be because of the visitors and the high volume of traffic i am getting or It could be because of something else.

I have seen forums with 500+ and they work like a charm, no lags or anything like that.

I am have been getting more crashes and crashes and my website doesnt even stay alive for about 24hours +

Help and suggestions is very appreciated.

Thank you.

You may want to upgrade your hosting to a VPS, before your hosting company decides to completely close your account for server overload.

Not really. It depends on what host defines as semi. Semi meaning 2 then it is higher.

Wat are your specs and have you looked at your logs to see what the errors are causing the crash?

thanks guys.

hi
is 5TB traffic / 10TB traffic Enough for one month.

Everyday one of my sites will use 3GB per day or more, others i haven't checked tho but i am assuming maybe 2 GB with 2 more websites.

Yeah you need to definitely upgrade your hardware. Go with something having SSDs, atleast for the DB, static webfiles+php scripts.

Your site member counts are fake. They don't change as a real site that is busy does.

Try this site I built in ipb that is truly busy and uses 2 15K drivesfor upload and downloads and streaming movies plus pics. It is porn so please no kiddies.

Probably your hosting has not enough ram. Enable also Gzip compression of forum processes. in Vbulletin admin.

Are you using cPanel ?

Its good to use litespeed for heavy php scripts like vbulletin, also use cloud linux and it will handle your load, you just need to optimize your server to give better performance.

With cloud linux you will lose half your members. I get page not available at least 10 times a day on low volume sites. No one will put up with that on a high volume sites.

Again it may be just some simple tuning. You may be allowing each IP to connect 20 times or more eating up your resources.

Just disable all the plugins/hooks.

Then see whats the load.

Enable the plugins one by one and monitor the load. See which particular plugin/hook causes the increase in load.

If the disabling plugins doesn't help, then optimize (tune) MySQL (Please Google for this)

If it still doesn't help, then hire a server expert (go for some reputed companies) to optimize your server.

Or else, get a dedicated server with high-end hardware. That's your last possible option.
