Webmaster tools wrong information

It can take longer then 1 week for changes to show up in google webamster tools.

Depending on the age of the site, it can take anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks for the changes to show up. The older the site the better, changes will show up faster.

As for the sitemap, what content management system are you using? Some CMSs have a built in RSS feed. You can submit the RSS feed to google as a sitemap. If you want a real sitemap, you will need to make sure the CMS is generating a sitemap.
 
Thank you, trying to send feed instead of the sitemap.
Know I have a sitemap at the location I told webmaster tools to look at though. (checked it by visiting the url)

Once the sitemap has been submitted, you should know within 24 hours it everything went through ok.

If the sitemap was rejected, there should be some kind of red X or something saying the sitemap was rejected.

When I submitted my sitemaps, google would usually accept it or reject it within a couple of hours.
