there some good Tutorials on VHCS, but i love DIreactadmin as a CP, but yes that is not GPL

I used this control panel when byethost.com was using this control panel for the free webhosting /resellers clients. You can try using Omega which is a fork of VHCS which can be found at http://isp-control.net. Which is more updated I wouldn't know about security issue though as I've never personally installed any of these on my servers.
