It's official! As of today, Verizon has verified that they will be getting the iPhone 4. We all heard rumours on Twitter, and numerous websites about this, but it appears the rumours are true after all. Verizon held a small event to announce this, and we were some-what surprised not to see Steve Jobs there. Yes, it is hard to get Steve at events, other than his own, but you would think if the iPhone was getting a new carrier, he would co-host the event, right?
After hearing about this on a local news station, Verizon said "Now that Verizon has the iPhone, users will get a choice of carriers, for the first time ever." Too bad we have had a choice of carriers, it is called a "unlock", allowing T-mobile users to use their SIM card's in the iPhone.
I myself, did not think that was actually going to happen. I thought that Apple was going to stick with AT&T.
According to Verizon's website, the iPhone is set to release on 2/10/10 with the 16GB model for sale. A 2 year activation and data pak, I mean pack, is required. The price is set at $199.99 for the iPhone 4.
Here is a shot of what Verizon put on their website, for the iPhone 4. I found 2 little mistakes by suck a "major carrier". The carrier doesn't even display "Verizon" yet, while their demo devices said Verizon at their event. They spelled pack without a c.
