I don't think that we may get paid.

There are many reasons.

1>They do not have a proper ad network.
2>Due to the long payment delay, most of the people stopped promoting this host.
3>By which if they restart with a new ad network it's impossible to generate new revenue because they might not have sufficient traffic.
4>Without any revenue, it's also impossible to bear the server cost; the result is shutting down the site, which he already mentioned.

Conclusion
Only hope is that he is a mature guy, and he has a stable website. But we don't expect this kind of newcomer behavior from a guy who has a stable business model with around nine years of experience.
