In a thread posted on the official Ubisoft forums just last week, it was alleged that a crack was used to patch the Direct2Drive versions of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 after the 1.03 patch failed to apply.

When the patch was installed, the game did not recognize its own executable as valid and would not run. In response to the failed patch, Ubisoft released R6Vegas2_Fix.zip which contained an executable that the patch would recognize. Upon closer examination of the executable though it was found to reference "Reloaded", a warez group known for releasing cracks.

As of now the patch has been removed and Ubisoft is currently investigating the issue, but D2D players must still wait for a proper fix.

That's funny. This isn't the first time something like this happened though. If I remember correctly Microsoft was called out for using a pirated version of Sony Sound Forge to make some of the sound files in Windows XP.
