Hi Guys,

i thought i'd make a thread where you guys can share
your tip's and tricks when it comes to refurbishing a PC.

Bearing in mind i do not touch PC's that have specs less than:

2x 1.40Ghz (Processor)
1.25GB (Ram)
40GB (HDD)

If a PC has less specs than that i will normally upgrade it to the
above or more depending on how much my client wants to spend
otherwise i'll just tell them that the initial visit is free of charge
and that i can not do more unless they want Windows XP.

When ever i install Windows 7 for client i install it judging
by their PC specs - I don't do this commercially i just do it
for friends and family sometimes i might get referred to
someone because i can do it a lot cheaper than the shop
round the corner and they know i wont rip them off.

Bear in mind everything below is stored on 1 USB Stick &
1 backup USB stick - Each USB stick is 16GB

Below i'll Post what i use when i completely Refurbish a PC:

Windows Loader v2.00 (Validates Windows 7)

P.S. i install the windows 7 from the USB stick :P

I want to know if you guys preinstall any programs onto a fresh PC
please share here would be nice to see what other people use and
also people could learn a bit from it :)

i would change to openoffice, and 7zip as it is free and more reliable :)
bitdefender is my nr1 for 4years.. but i found it kinda slow on low spec pc's, so better use avira free as just for better performance :)
 
lol i carry arround a usb too with all my after format progys... the basics include the same as ures but i add to it klite codec pack full version, skype, adobe reader, pdfcreator, inet protector, and i use nod32 instead of bitdefender.

All programs on the list + some others i use only = 1gb

I still have over 2gbs space on my flash drive. but i just use that if i have to add another program or if i need some storage.

Anti-virus & Security

Eset Smart Security (whatever the latest version is at the time).
Spybot - Search & Destroy.
SpywareBlaster.

General Software

WinRAR.
7Zip.
CCleaner.
Firefox (including AdBlock Plus extension, Java, Flash etc).
Windows Live Messenger (unless specified otherwise).
Your Uninstaller.
Ashampoo Burning Studio.

That is pretty much it for the most part, there is other I do install but it just depends on what the person wants really.

Install Firefox

Install MSN
Install Photoshop
Install Dreamweaver
Install Steam
Install winrar
Install Filezilla
Install Adobe Flash Player
Install Notepad++
