I received my first DMCA a few days ago through my domain registar. I didn't know that was possible I thought if I was with an offshore host I am safe from it.

The DMCA was about a game hack program. I had an article about and an image of it on my server - not the actual program. You can call it linking I guess. I have seen something like this happen to Starcraft 2 hacking.

Now after this event, I realized you have to act on DMCA as they can contact your domain registar who can close your domain. If your domain is worth a lot, you would act on it. They also gave a threat regarding releasing my private Whois information.

I would like to know your opinions on this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Just delete that article, but if I was you I would talk to my domain registrar and tell them why would you delete an article that has nothing to do with illegal material. You have the right to speak about anything on the Internet, why can't you in that specific case :)

Are you sure it was DMCA and not just the legal department of thu publisher representing that game?
Because that has nothing to do with copyright.

delete the article, or just ignore the DMCA, acting like your never got it, like the email to which they sent is not yours or you are not the owner of the site, simple as that. wait till your host contacts you, but if it's offshore then they won't contact you anyways... but if they will... then the server is not offshore.

I think all these dmca ignored hosts are fake. If you want to see its true, host something of battlefield 3 from ea like a image and watch there ip inforement will fuck ya

Now how is that? They can't block your server's IP, so what does happen, they will DDoS you? :|

I was contacted by the department of the game company they emailed my domain registar with the letter. I didn't want my domain deleted or blocked until transfer.
