Dear WJ members,

I'm excited to announce that we are released the BETA version of our new concept: RapidPlayer.org

We managed to make a way to stream RapidShare videos without downloading them and we made it available for our users. The user should simply enter a rapidshare video url and he can start streaming right away

We also have a Pay Per View affiliate scheme where we pay our affiliates for each completed (75%) video view. Check out the details of the affiliate program here:
http://rapidplayer.org/rewards

It is still in beta, I'm pretty sure there are undiscovered bugs, I'm just curious about your opinion on the concept

@cvrle77 that is true, we can handle a limited amount of streams for free users at once. if we reach that limit the free users should wait in a queue.

not sure how many people will buy premium, considering you are offering only a slice of what you can do with original rapidshare account, for the half of the original price of rapidshare premium account... if users are able to download rar files, then, maybe, but maybe... I hope you see the point from that angle...
Not trying to be a cunt and diss your project, just pointing the obvious... you are trying to compete with rapidshare, king of filehosts, in their own field...

@cvrle77 with rapidshare you can play your OWN videos. the main usecase why we made this service is:
- user browse warez-bb.org or other big forum
- user see a rapidshare movie link, copies it
- paste it into rapidplayer and can watch it instantly

I basically built the tech for myself at first. I was too lazy to download videos so i thought it would be great to stream it

very nice, looking real beautiful
i am at school right now, cant access warez-bb
anyone got a single link rapidshare i can try it out? (must be avi-mp4-mkv right?)

thanks

It takes 10 seconds to transfer any rapidshare file from any account, to yours, and watch the video, if it's avi or mkv file :/ so, you can play ANY video, that is what I was saying about giving a piece of what rapishare premium account owner can, for half a price of RS account...

Feel free to make a pool, what users would use more...public opinion is more important than mine.

@phimnhackich thanks. here is a random link to try out: http://rapidplayer.org/player/74/1

@cvrle77 you might be right. our main focus is not on premiu at all. we were testing this tech on our tv streaming site in the previous months with great success, so we thought we will share it.

from the affiliate / uploader point of view: most of you are already uploading files to RS just for respect, so why wouldn't you share the rapidplayer url along with it? you earn money and your users are able to watch it straight away

@phimnhackich playing perfectly for me. is the "not found" message is in the player itself or on the site? we are building our servers as we speak so you might hit one of the servers which is in progress

if you will extend to other filehosts you would have a big chance to get notice..
Too bad megaupload was closed, with rapidshare and megavideo files you couldve offer some more.

@ms7 actually currently we are working on implementation for mediafire and jumbofiles and have plans to extend to others. thank you for your advice, appreciate it

this is interesting kind of streaming host
maybe popular files should save on your own server so you dont leech a lot from rs and they ban your ip

@examan345 thanks for the suggestion. something like this is already in place. basically we cache everything until the servers are maxed then we evict the ones that are accessed a long while ago
