Theme advice.

Ok, i'm in the process of doing my forums, installing mod's etc.

But can't decide on how the theme/style will be setout.

Light Or Dark ....Then, do i either go for Fluid or use Fixed width?

It's for a torrent based forum btw.


Also not posting links as of yet.

i prefer dark themes to be honest other people are different and id choose fluid :)

make it your own do what ever dark and light etc
 
Fluid and personally I prefer light skins but it all depends on the skin. I'd prefer a nice dark fixed skin to a shitty fluid light one. To be honest it doesn't matter much as long as it looks good.
 
I've decided on a Light Fixed theme and going to customize that to my liking then at a later date make a darker theme.

Cheers for the replies though, made me think alot, also some good points taken in.
 
i personally prefer dark themes and always have, but light themes are easier on the eyes and most people go for that so if you have the chance have both or just choose the one that suites you.

Try not to use a theme that loads of people already do, you want to stand out don't you? it works, trust me.
 
Nah i won't use a theme which has been whored out, i've made that mistake in the past lol.

Temped to use Dual Collumns + images to spice it up abit.
 
Gotta agree with Deleted, Dual columns arent really great imo.
Because your making it fixed you can stick a lot more interesting stuff in there and still have it easy to code.
I'd use a few curves, soft gradients + maybe have like rounded borders for most boxes?
