I got a mail from my hosting company saying
We have found that this system is extremely compromised on the root level.
What does it mean?. My vps was suspended and they are giving me 24hrs to reply before they take further actions.

I think there saying you've "hacked" into there system and gained root access?

Suggestion

I suggest you get proof off them and ask them how its been exploited.

Maybe someone did some kind of attack from your VPS.
