I have a suggestion for respected members and moderators of Wjunction. Many hosting services here have sale threads on Wjunction but no support threads. It can be said that they provide support through their websites and support tickets, but I feel there are a few reasons why hosting service should be asked to have support threads as well.

1- Common problems faced by customers would be answered and resolved immediately.

2- Customer will not have to wait for host to return in case host has run away, customer will switch quickly to new host (and open a dispute).

3- New customers will have a good idea about host before they purchase the service, old customers' feedback will help.

4- Host won't advise customer in sale threads to open tickets to avoid embarrasement due to host's issues. :P

There can be a poll on this ?
Regards.

Tickets and emails are a better way to get support. They offer more privacy to the customers and the hosts. I personally wont ever want my site's issues to be posted publicly.

Besides, if you really want to leave feedback regarding a host, you can always write a review in the hosting discussion sub forum.

I agree with cloudshadow,

Privacy is a main concern these days.

From my point of view, I do not think this is a good idea, since we always respond to our clients in a descent time frame.

Cheers,
Ryan

No need for a support thread... And the "sales thread" used here are not for support either... DUHH

Support tickets can't take place of support threads, and vice versa. As far as privacy is concerned even now customers mention ticket numbers here and not their whole story. Plus, host can update all clients here on common technical issue/server issues.

Different big hosts have forums to address clients' issues along with ticket system...do you think they aren't concerned about privacy ? and there customers also know what they shouldn't post publicily.

This will greatly help everyone looking for a new host to decide a best host plus scams can be avoided before the loss is too much.

Regarding reviews, if I post a neutral review of a host, the first one to object on that will be either host (asking question which ticket, what, when, why, etc) or his friend. But when many people are having same experience about a host in the support thread, other people can easily decide if they should switch to that host or should stay away.

So you would be willing to, for example, give out your cPanel admin password here if you want support to fix something or you would rather wait sometime(depending on the host) to answer your ticket?

Also, if you own a hosting company, would you like this idea? I think like others have already said, privacy is the main concern, you can't just give out all the passwords just because you want your issue to be fixed a few minutes or hours early?

it is already done on the forums
and most hosts say to "submit ticket"
soo
yea

+some users are stupid and would make stupid and irrelevant remarks to degrade a hosts' reputation
which is not cool bro

Support threads are unneeded. If the host runs away, open a dispute in paypal.

If you have a problem with the host, you open a ticket. It's how it's always been done.

New customers get feed back via the sell thread, that's how I found the hosts I use, because I read 'Yay best host, fast support etc and I see the host is active in posting.

Tickets are 1 on 1 with the client, so the host doesn't have to bullshit in generalized terms so as to not reveal sensitive information of their client. Would YOU like your cpanel password, or your reseller information (in case he needs it) to be put all over the web? No you don't.

Learn to think about things like SECURITY.

Support threads are meaning less.

when you need something, just open a ticket or send an email.

no one will accept to ask about private things on public!

I understand you guys are mostly running a hosting service but Privacy isn't a concern here, everyone is intelligent enough not to post cpanel user name and password online. For specific questions a support ticket option is still available.

Many hosts have their forums for support, privacy isn't a concern for them ? I feel some hosts won't want their "good" repute to be known to new customers.

When problem arises and host is under pressure they simply say "this is a sale thread, open a ticket" ...they don't say this when everything is going well and no complaint. Why this ?

In support thread only and only customers of hosts should be allowed, if the "repute" of host is the main concern.
