Streaming Videos - Win 7 VPS Server

Hey guys,

i wanted to ask how the whole streaming hoster install and managed the video hoster? I have a VPS Server with 1 Gbits and 500 GB space. I have installed JWplayer and it works. The problem is that the video downloadspeed at single download about 120 KB/s. The Server should give me fullspeed but the speed is very low. The most video hoster use jwplayer too, but they have more speed.

Can someone help me how to install or configurate the server that i will have fullspeed? I think the traffic will be 200 views a day with a large of 1-2 GB per video. My User should get min. 400 kb/s

Max. download via jdownload is 85 MB/s

200 user * 400 kb/s = 80 MB/s

ok, i am dreaming, but why i get 130 kb/s with my 1 Gbits?
My Internet connection is DSL 2000. Speed should be 240 kb/s. If i start the video my speed shwo me 100-140 kb/s.
 
To be honest, for a VPS config that good, the speed is strangely slow.

PS: You can't host such files on Leaseweb's network. You'll get kicked out. Make sure you test with other legal files.
 
If you really want to proceed with this project really, you should invest in a dedicated server with 1Gbps, or your users will have problems ;)

Download != upload and they don't REALLY provide you with 1Gps
 
I have asked support 100tbh.

Streaming files is ok, warez files are ok too, but i will have abuse mail, ia have to delet this file.

BTW: Semi S is shared Server but only with 2 person.
Semi L is dedicated. SO i could upgrade to Semi L but the speed should be at semi s more powerfully. Any suggestion how i can increase the speed? Semi S is shared 1 Gbits with 2 person too.
If i start jdownloader the speed is about 25 - 45 MB/s. If i start FTP Upload to Glumbouploads the speed is 45 - 58 MB/s. If is start Zoomuploader and upload 10 files to sockshare at the same time, the speed is about 75-90 MB/s.

I have testet speed with netspeedmonitor. And if i start the video, my spee is about 130 kb/s -.- fail!

Don't be afraid... Probably if he says 5 users / server, probably it's 10. He usualy likes to lie people :)

It's simple to see. He's hosting those VPS on their standard servers, which have 16 GB RAM, 4 TB HDD with 1 Gbps. How many 2 GB's can you put in 16 GB RAM server, about 5 (if you leave extra RAM for the host itself to use). That is only if the host uses Xen HVM or something. Otherwise, he can put as many 2 GB's RAM VPS he wants on a 16 GB RAM server :P

Anyways, that's not the point here. The point seems to be the problem with your VPS config. I doubt LW's network will be that bad, even on a VPS.

Keep working no the config, mate.
