"In a letter to Congress, Kazuo Hirai, chairman of Sony's board of directors, blames hacker group Anonymous for making possible the theft of gamers' personal information. 'What is becoming more and more evident is that Sony has been the victim of a very carefully planned, very professional, highly sophisticated criminal cyber attack designed to steal personal and credit card information for illegal purposes,' Hirai wrote. He also indicated that Sony waited two days before notifying the FBI of the theft."

Waited two days? Really? Christ. What were they expecting, that whoever hacked it would admit their guilt, and promise to delete all the data?

This is a bad, bad, situation, and makes me worry about the technological future.

"Anonymous" are the most pathetic losers what have ever come in to existance. The fact that they all stem from 4chan (more-than-likely /b) and have no lives should explain this. "Anonymous" are people who more than likely never had friends growing up and have no morals due to the fact they've never socialised with anyone face-to-face. They are geeks who think they are "uber cool" by performing stunts like this which waste everyones time.

sorry but i'm not agree with you. they are not involved only with sony psn. they are trying to fight many and many "suspect" actions by big companies... remeber when wikileaks was left alone by paypal and similars...

and sony lol. Would have maybe got a new console by this time :D

Seriously, the only thing they were looking for were the CC Details and now that they have got it, i hope they will stop the attacks. If not, then it means they are after something else.

Do you know why are they attacking Sony?

When you buy something (in this case hardware) you should be able to use it as you please. But Sony has all of their stupid rules. Instead of investing in their networks security Sony is harassing their paying members, suing someone who modified the console, and so on... Also I do support Anonymous. They were there when Wikileaks was alone, they were there when NZ government made ridiculous rules regarding copyright laws, and they were there many times fighting for the freedom of speech. Yes, they maybe didn't accomplish much, and their attention span is low but they aren't just sitting back and watching when normal people get screwed. Also you can't just say Anonymous did it. If you knew their structure you would know what I am talking about. They are not a group with fixed member count, there is no leader in Anonymous.

THIS

Sony is just blaming a random group.
At this time Anonymous is the only group which has gained a lot of popularity in a short time.
Sony wanted to transfer the blame of keeping the servers not secure to Anonymous.

As said in the above post, if you knew about Anonymous. THEY NEVER TARGET ANYONE WITHOUT A PROPER REASON

And even if credit cards was the main target, a lot of money transfer would have already taken place but it did not happen. In this scene, Sony is to be blamed for not keeping proper security

@Sp32: lol .. the fact that you say all that shows that you know nothing about the real people behind Anonymous and their motives. You've only looked at the fraction of the misguided people among the group. But nonetheless, this is a serious issue. Up until now Sony said it wasn't Anonymous. Even AnonOps went ahead saying that they had nothing to do with it

If I knew so many people were going to get "Butt hurt" about my post at anonymous I wouldn't bothered of posting it.
