Hi i was just asuming that which one is better VPS or Shared hosting i need to find out few things regarding VPS specially first lets take Shared hsoting !

On shared hosting u get:
* Space and Band
Cpanel
Webmail
PHPmyadmin
Mysql DB
etc

but on VPS (cheap one remember)

let take this offer (for example)
https://ionvm.com/support/cart.php?a=add&pid=3

Can it handle 600 UV to 700 UV per day?...

and what about the Cpanel in VPS if i dont select any control panel (because they both cost something) as Directadmin $4.00 (but it sucks) and Cpanel $14.00 (very costly) then how can i manage my vps and upload my site init and what about the Mysql how can i manage my DB ???...

i have these questions needed to be answered before i make my decision before buying a VPS and leave shared hosting forever ????

Shared hosting can handle 600-700 visits per day without a problem, however if you mean on 600-700 visitors online then you'd most likely need dedicated server or pretty high end vps.

First of all, the VPS you choose will not serve for your website, it lacks RAM, I'd recommend a minimum of 512mb ram but probably even more depending on the webserver type and such, another important thing you'd have to look into will be the amount of CPU you have available for your VPS. Some scrips/websites require lots of CPU.

As for the cPanel part, there are lots of alternatives for cPanel, and some free/open source. The most popular free (open source) one is Webmin. Another I recently discovered is OpenPanel. I recommend you to take a look, and do the needed research.

As far as a VPS goes, in your case (seeing that you have very little technical knowledge about maintaining servers and such) I reccomend you to go for managed VPS solutions such as the ones from KnownSRV and XSLTel. In such a case you won't be needing a webinterface to manage the server because this would be done by your provider (that is if you could can do everything via FTP and via the website front/back).

If you want any further advice I'd recommend you to tell us what kind of script you are currently using and any other interesting specs about your website.

HHmm thankx for the reply and i am using DLE 9.3 (currently) and i was think to make a phpbb forum too for my forum need and i was thinking of more honestly thats why i thought of VPS and i am currently using NLVL shared hosting NLVL V1 pkg which is 30 GB and 100 GB i think so i thought i would need more space and specially bandwidth for my needs but as u already said i dont have much knowledge and i really cannot manage a VPS but i was thinking if i take the pkg that i've mentioned in my first post and tell them to install mysql and opencpanel for me so is it possible that i can manage my VPS at that point and...

what is the diff b/w managed VPS and unmanaged VPS ?

do you think shared hosting is still better for me ?

and what is the purpose of VPS then ?

Unmanaged VPS'es don't come with any support when it comes to managing, and administering the VPS. You will need to do everything yourself.
Managed VPS'es do come with support, although it's important to read the TOS etc. to know exactly what is included. For example this could be only important system updates/security, or this could be a fully managed webserver.

Running a website requires a certain amount of cash, so if you are planning to move over to a VPS make sure you test everything before moving (check the server speed, hardware, peering, and control panel before switching).

Again I strongly recommend you to test out OpenPanel (or any other) before switching, you don't want to end up with a server you can't manager or don't like.

Ok first of all haha these people trippen..

Once your site starts hitting 100-200 active members.. The cpu of the shared host will go up a little. Most shared host do not like that and which is when they decide to make you upgrade..

Now a vps you can easily find a cheap vps aslong as its 10gb hdd and lower.. It is very easy to manage aslong as you setup your server correctly and upload all that you need..

Basicly youll just have to make sure to go back in ssh and restart the webserver or whatever if needed...

Its not hard and cpanel and all that is useless.. You can always get a free linux web panel

HHmm if considering linux web panel will it include MYSQL phpmyadmin and all necessary things ?

and how about managed VPS with a cheap price if u know any ;) seriously @CuraHack can u suggest me one ?

and i've seen many offers in VPS some are cheap too but dont know about the reliability ? can u recommend me one ?

You don't need to buy cPanel licence, you can manage your site fine with free kloxo panel, but i will recommend you to buy plan with at least 256 MB RAM.

i was with knownsrv but they said my site has over grew now they cant allow me on there shared hosting on current pkg :(

i'll try XSLTEL

I thought you ware looking to upgrade to a VPS, and I'm sure you didn't overgrow that. So what are you doing? Staying with shared hosts, or moving to your own VPS..?

@xtone:

What shared hosting plan are you in at Knownsrv? WHy don't you just get the higher plan with more drivespace and bandwidth since it seems like your problem is just that you're running out of bandwidth?

That would be much simpler than going to a VPS since you'll still be with the same provider, therefore, you don't have to move the whole website? Also, since you're already familiar with how their system works, you don't have to relearn everything again...

And the next higher plan just costs a few dollars more...

Firstly, what is the reason you started to think you needed to move from shared hosting to a VPS? Are you having problems, complaints about your website? If not: Don't try to fix something that isn't broken.

A VPS will be a expensive choice in your case because you will require cPanel (or similar software) to manage your VPS (because you don't have the knowledge/skills to manage the VPS via the Command Line Interface).

So my final recommendation is:
If you are not having any issues with your shared hosting, don't move, else, invest in a managed VPS with cPanel (or similar software).
