This is not a glitch.

Rapidshare's new system will auto extend your account for an entire year if you have enough rapids to do such (and the Auto extend RapidPro setting is on). They won't ask you.

They say it's 'customer preference'. Wait.. let me dig up the screenshot of the email someone received from them when they complained of the auto extension.
