I was basically looking for such a list all over google when I first set up my WP blog and everyone had different recommendations. I ended up installing all sorts of useless plugins which slowed my site down to a crawl.
I later realised, its better to install plugins on the go as you needed them while developing your blog rather than installing a bunch of unnecessary plugins which slow down your newly setup blog. Afterall, every site has its own requirements.
I would recommend you to install All In One Seo & W3 Total Cache plugins initially. After that, start adding content to your blog and if you feel you need to any specific functionality to your blog, do a plugin search based on your requirement and install it.
