Hello Wjunction,

In anticipation for the launch of our amazing US servers (based in PowerLoft, VA - www.powerloft.com), we thought it would be great to offer NEW & EXISTING customers the chance to get a NL 1Gbit Dedicated Server for a bargain.

These servers are already the cheapest unmetered bandwidth 1000Mbit servers in Europe, and as everyone knows we bulk buy bandwidth our from Leaseweb, and as we own all our own equipment, we set our own prices!

It's the exact same scenario with 100tb.com - they buy bulk bandwidth from SoftLayer, and we buy bulk bandwidth From Leaseweb.

So, to get 25% of ALL .NL Servers use coupon code: intro25nl

This fantastic offer will close 2nd May, 2011.

First month only.

As I said, the prices are already the cheapest in Europe.

We just want people to see what our speeds are like and when they have, no doubt they will stay with us.

Gotcha. I'm trying to convince a few of my buddies to sign up. So this 25% off is definitely a good start.

The server is only as good as the user Hotpk.

Just because you choose to send somewhere, does not mean you will get full speed to that destination.

Message me your server details, i'll show you your server doing 1000Mbps in less than 5mins.

As for the S-500... It has 2GB DDR3 RAM... how about check it via SSH like a normal user or even your my.rapidspeeds.com client portal area.

I just told you - their servers are located in HK

Lifetalk your finding is wrong. Filesonic servers are located in Webazilla Network in USA and NL .
IP Location is showing as HK, because RIPE info carry HK address of Filesonic company (EarnWell).

From OVH to Filesonic: 23,9 MB/s

It's the connection of the Filesonic Servers Dude!

Thank you guys for clearing this up for this user.

It's not our servers, we know that and thanks to your tests the user now knows it - Very much appreciated.

Hey Craig/Darren,

Thought I'd post up some speedtest results here for you.

From a server located in Chicago (SingleHop), connected at 1Gbits:
Code:
--2011-04-29 17:26:06--  http://108.59.1.1/test.file
Connecting to 108.59.1.1:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 524288000 (500M) [text/plain]
Saving to: `/dev/null'

100%[=========================================================================================================================>] 524,288,000 33.8M/s   in 25s

2011-04-29 17:26:31 (20.1 MB/s) - `/dev/null' saved [524288000/524288000]

Pretty average, considering my server was connected at 1gbit and is generally 95% redundant (barely any network activity on this one, except light DB transactions). It started out real slow, but climbed up about a quarter way through.

From a server in PhoenixNAP (Atlanta), connected at 1Gbit
Code:
--2011-04-29 15:22:40--  http://108.59.1.1/test.file
Connecting to 108.59.1.1:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 524288000 (500M) [text/plain]
Saving to: `/dev/null'

100%[=========================================================================================================================>] 524,288,000 1.49M/s   in 7m 25s

2011-04-29 15:30:05 (1.12 MB/s) - `/dev/null' saved [524288000/524288000]

Very slow. Probably poor routing/peering. But, kinda disappointed. Just like the above, this one has a lot of redundant capacity too. But seeing it top out at maximum 10mbps was a let down. I could PM you traceroute and such if you need them to look into it, just lemme know.

From a server in Los Angeles (WebNX), connected at 100mbps
Code:
--2011-04-29 15:23:05--  http://108.59.1.1/test.file
Connecting to 108.59.1.1:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 524288000 (500M) [text/plain]
Saving to: `/dev/null'

100%[=========================================================================================================================>] 524,288,000 11.2M/s   in 46s

2011-04-29 15:23:50 (11.0 MB/s) - `/dev/null' saved [524288000/524288000]

Topped out. Pretty, pretty good!

Softlayer, (100TB) connected at 1Gbit
Code:
--2011-04-29 17:23:07--  http://108.59.1.1/test.file
Connecting to 108.59.1.1:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 524288000 (500M) [text/plain]
Saving to: `/dev/null'

100%[=========================================================================================================================>] 524,288,000 18.0M/s   in 28s

2011-04-29 17:23:36 (17.8 MB/s) - `/dev/null' saved [524288000/524288000]

About the same as that from SingleHop. Not bad, but not really impressive. Maybe poor routing/peering again, on this one? Oh and this server also has redundant bandwidth all the time.

Overall, the results are average. Not really noticeable on a 100mbps connection, but for servers connected at 1Gbit, the network performance is average. Probably needs some time and/or tweak.

I also noticed you guys have a tad higher pricing on the US servers. You think those prices will be going down? Or stay that way and then rise? Because from what I've seen (I actively monitor/research the dedicated server market) servers in the US are generally cheaper compared to those in the EU/NL.

Lifetalk,

Thanks for your feedback.

Could you possibly send me the trace routes of all of them and we can try and tweak them?

We may be introducing a promotional code for them next month which may interest users so that is something to look out for.
