Purchasing an International Phone Number

Ok, so I'm looking for services like Google Voice that support texting(calls aren't necessary) that would give me my own phone number that isn't in the US.

I have found two that offer it from Canada, and their prices are pretty steep in my opinion. I could be wrong, but I have nothing to compare them with. I'm not against paying for a phone number.

Can anyone recommend me any services like that? The country doesn't really matter, as long as I can forward text messages to my US phone.

We used the VoIP provider Phone.com for a while, and with their US numbers we were able to send and receive texts, not sure about their International numbers though. Give them a try, I know they offer a 30 day trial.
