Corrupt, so thats no physical reason, its actually a mental one.

The people with the said Pr4-5 are assuming that Page Rank means something, when in reality it doesnt.

Actually, page rank does mean something. It means that the website being viewed has (many) good quality link backs.

Example, a PR5 and a PR0 site. You'd get a link on the PR5 one because it obviously has better quality exchanges already, meaning your page will be found more easily and seen has quite relevant. Whereas with PR0, obviously nobody cares about it enough to link to it, meaning you just wouldn't get your link on it.

The point is, it doesn't affect SERPs but that doesn't mean it is useless. PR is useful in many situations.

PR altogether, Google had a conference and after some lady explained PR does nothing but make webmasters have false hopes. She said it does nothing and due to that they are going to remove it, why do you think no ones PR has changed for over 2 months?

Sometimes webmaster's need that "false hope" to push them on building their sites and adding better content than their competition.

PR doesn't matter on SERP... probably everyone knows that.

However, try this yourself. For a very low competition keyword and 2 domains, try getting a lot of PR1 one way links for 1 of the domains and a few high PR or authority domain (.gov/.edu) linkbacks to another. The later one will easily be ranked higher in SERP for tht low competition keyword.

so PR definately has a value, no matter how much Google tries to deny it. If it was so useless, why would they bother/worry about so much misuse from it? Why would they discourage PR Link Sales?

PageRank is a trademark of Google and has been patented. Even if they remove the PageRank from Google's toolbar, their's no guarantee they will remove this from their system.

I don't care about pagerank for a long time.
My site is PR0 for 1.5 years already but I rank #1 for a highly competitive keyword(17 million results) and that's more than great for me.
The serps alone give me around 2000 unique visitors daily. Now why would I need a high PR?
Maybe for money if you sell ads to idiots on dp or some extra share if u use tnx, but in the warez industry traffic means the most even for ads.

I was under the impression that google was removing the visibility from there webmasters area!.. due to the fact that a hell of a lot of webmasters was basing there website on this point alone!

don't be fooled, google need a way to determine the quality of a particular website. This clever move is obviously an attempt by google too stop people buying links (which makes serp's inaccurate).
