The Reason why this is happening with you is because when you upload some stuff to your account then in the My Files page you see there is a small Pub section where everything is already unchecked.It means the files you have uploaded is secure and private, you have to make it public by check the box to do a remote upload which i don't think you or anyone else will do.

So when you share your links no one can remote upload your oron links besides downloading.
