hi. well i was wondering wouldn't be good if you put a new rule on marketplace for newbies just before they start a thread? cause i see new members ain't reading rules of section where they create a thread. and it gets closed lol,

so wouldn't be better to redirect them to a rule of that section when they try to create a thread after reading those rules they should be able to create a new thread in that section, for example. every section has their own rules like

Marketplace:

- Official Marketplace rules
- No Hiring/Offering uploader services

Hosting:

- Thread Title Rules

suppose if they try to create a new thread in "Hosting" section they should be redirected to the rule section of "Hosting" and after agreeing with the rules they should be able to create a new thread (same goes with other sections too) it will stop people (new members) by creating threads which isn't following the rules of that section. cause i see new members creating threads which is not allowed in WJ. and we had a thread few hours ago it was about uploading lol

so think about it staff :)

Thank You!

There should be custom pages for sales.

eg. select Sell Website and you have to fill out a form.
1. Website URL
2. Owner verify file URL
3. PR
4. Alexa
etc...

It would make the forum a lot more professional

yeah i like your idea gavo. and it shouldn't be visible to others except staff, after they verify the site/thread the thread should be visible

good idea gavo +1

If you make a new thread (in any section) you should first read the rules, including new rules.

Furthermore, it's not the job of mods to redirect people to the rules. It should be clear for any one to find them.

i am not saying you guys to redirect them. there must be a option in Admin Panel (i don't think blue mods have access to Admin Panel) where you can redirect new users before they create a new thread in a section

Yeah we should install something like cyb forum rules....
the cyb forum rules mod has some or the other security holes. So WJ should get some one to code a plugin that would make it mandatory for users to read out the rule & accept them b4 they create a thread. You can install cyb forum rules on some demo vb installation & check out how it works & make something which would work in same way with no security issues.

Unfortunately (as you knows as being a mod) people do not read the rules.

He didn't say you'd redirect them to the rules. He wanted a modification that would do it before allowing them to make a thread.

Good idea CA. It has been requested a quite a few times, but to no avail.

that's what i wanted to explain :) <3

thanks jesse

Nobody reads the rules... older members are aware of them, coz mod says something is forbidden in one thread, and later everyone spam someones thread saying same thing over and over and over again.

So, even if you redirect them, they still won't read them, as older members haven't read them either.

its their problem if they don't read it mate. they'll get a infraction or warning for ignoring the rules. if they tried to do it again "BAN HAMMER" is ready :) cause we already warned them!!

Well, to be honest, it looks that in the last weeks the number of closed threads (title faults etc) has decreased, so I guess more people read the rules after seeing their thread closed.

Furthermore, the rules are scattered around and contain contradictions.
Eg in one rule it says 'No free hosting. Period' while in another it says:' for giving free hosting you need a support section'.

Also, if they get redirected to the rules, the question remains if they really proof these rules to their threads.

I am a firm believer in closing threads or even deleting them right away. Eventually the 'serious ones' remain while those still not adhere to the rules will give up.

If I am right, Capone already asked mods to take a look at the rules and to structure them, but until now I see little happen.
