I almost spend my whole day on the internet. My monitor is Dell U2413 ,which was bought several years ago.It feels horrible to my eyes, even keeping a reasonable distance. It's impossible for me to get good readability without hurting my eyes.

I'm looking for a good monitor. Can you give me some advise?

You could try f.lux as an alternative - https://justgetflux.com/
Or even Gunnar glasses.

Acer monitors are good and fairly cheap. I prefer to use Samsung or Dell monitors myself. Why not go for a different Dell monitor?
You won't find many monitors offering 1920x1200 in the 24" range anymore, though.

Stay away from monitor a little bit?

I tried it, but to little effect.

Sounds like it might be too bright?? Have you tried lowering the brightness ?
Yes, I tried lowering the brightness and also change the contrast. But it didn't as useful as i expected.

I have to read documents on my PC all day long, I think HP W2082a 20 LED is quite suitable for ppl like us. Its price is reasonable. :P

just a thought that noone has mentioned how close to your monitor are you? being fairly close can strain your eyes from time to time its like watching tv up close

Problem in eyes

if you are having problems while looking at monitor screen. Either your eyes are getting week or you should try changing display settings like contrast and display. Or if the problem still persists, you should try using "Anti-Glare Glasses" which is used if you sit in front of computer screen for hours. Even small children use them. It is very effective strategy and protects your eyes.

I think you should go to the doctor to test your eye soon. The monitor is just a factor that, if you work for long hours you need let your eye relax. I think so.

Getting a better monitor is a good option.
I would suggest getting your eyes checked by an eye specialist. You might have developed a minor eye sight issue.

Get an anti-glare glasses whether you have an eye sight issue or not.
