I dont exactly download things from megashare but a lot of my downloaders use Jdownloader with MegaShare.
Jdownloader makes it easier to download files as you dont have to open the links one by one. If there are 20 links, its much easier to download them using JD

Because there's hardly any fix rate? It also depends on your traffic. If your visitors mostly come from USA you'll probably get $20 / 1000 downloads. But if your visitors are from Asia, you'll get lesser, obviously.
Remember Megashare counts all downloads be it 1KB or 1GB.

1. I think it will work for getting referrals as a normal link do.
2. I don't know about this but as most of them do not use it, I think this will not be there.

And that rapidleech plugin is already told by someone on other forums, I think by Smithy or Cloud_Shadow (I don't remember that much)..

- No, we would have new referral system in V2 so link system won't work there.
We are not paying much attention on these stuff because we have to launch new version and then we will make sure to contact all coders and get everything for you.

Our attitude towards reward programmes
Some users have asked us why we have abandoned our reward programme. With the RapidPoints programme that we used to run we wanted to give those users small thank-you gifts for recommending our service by sending files to others. Unfortunately, this programme was discredited when more and more suppliers of online storage space tried to outgun each other by offering more and more absurd reward programmes. Some providers even offer their users up to 10,000 US Dollars for the upload of popular files – this can hardly be considered a thank-you gift for promoting their service. As our reward programme was nevertheless lumped together with such dubious programmes, we decided to stop the programme in June 2010.
We are convinced that with increasing legal pressure all file hosting services will have to refrain from their reward programmes if they seem to be designed to entice users to illegally upload copyrighted files. This is being stressed by the current lawsuits against Hotfile and Megaupload. These lawsuits are explicitly based on the allegation that the two companies actively promote the upload of copyrighted works through their reward programmes.
However, we currently work on an alternative model to reward customers who recommend our service and win new customers for us – a model that can’t be attacked or lumped together with the programmes of unreliable file hosting services.

We will not risk that our service is being blocked or even shut down and thus jeopardize the security and availability of our customers’ files just because of some points programme. Therefore, RapidShare will never offer such reward programme again.

I don't think this will happen because they tends more to sue those who are really big like under 200 of alexa ranks, rapidshare, hotfile, Megaupload etc.
Coming under 200 means they are really effecting copyrighted companies with such huge traffic and become noticeable. However, there would always be some site available to upload and earn.

But they will not be as good as Megashare..:'(
Sometimes I feel good and lucky that Megashare do not have a big Alexa but still is the best but on the other hand I also feel bad that doesn't have one..
I pray that they do not sue Megashare neither now nor in future..

The MPAA is only targeting hosts that are really big( under 100 in alexa) so MegaShare is perfectly safe right now. MS is also not very popular so the companies dont really care atm, but when MS does get huge it will get itself into some trouble. Everyone knows that, its imminent.
