I think its not necessary to use it because its quite expensive. If you have the server just for yourself & having high web traffic, then use free Nginx instead.

The main selling point of Litespeed over nginx is it's compatibility with apache's own rewrite rules. So you can literally drop litespeed in place of apache without modifying a single line of htaccess. On the other side, nginx uses it's own rules for URL rewriting. If you don't mind googling / reading the docs and bunch failures to get the thing to work right, Nginx is a good pick.
 
Just choose a host who understands your specific needs, and who can sit down with you and talk about what your needs are, and how that host can accommodate for those needs.
 
If you are able to configure it professional, it is much better than any other solution. Also the best way to protect your applications against ddos.
 
LiteSpeed is just a marketing point, really. At the end of the day, you can accomplish similar performance with Apache and Varnish, but people like to hear LiteSpeed when they buy hosting.

Glad to hear it's possible to achieve similar performance with the others solutions.

As for the DDoS Protected Hosting, we are pretty sure we offer competitive price and service in that matter, but thanks anyway ahah
 
I use this and did not find any heavy difference, I think Apache is much better If you don't want to waste your money or good for marketing.

I am not against this but I use it for a 1 month and then switch back to apache, did not see any difference.

(Maybe better then apache but speed difference can be see only by benchmark)
 
I use vestacp so its like apache at backend and nginx at front end so in other words no fucker can attack me with apache targeted attacks
Like when i was using apache some asshole used an apache only attack and fucked my sites over (I dont remember the attacks name) but oh well as soon as i switch to the combination then i am running cool

Note: I know this thread is regarding Lightspeed but no idea why i am bored and wanted to write something
 
We think LiteSpeed is worth the $800 price tag. It gives us better apache compatibility than our nginx/apache hybrid does. It's less prone to falling over if you are fortunate enough to get a deluge of traffic, and its event driven architecture is less easily abused by malicious individuals.

We use Litespeed on all our Offshore Services, is much better than Nginx and Apache for sites with high visits.

What I want to say is that I use Adroitssd.com ssd hosting and they use Litespeed server - the speed connectivity to my web sites is really cool.
They have top-notch customer service, responding to trouble tickets immediately and consistently.
