Bot's like this are a pain in the ass for coders.
They need to be constantly updated but nobody ever updates.
A lot of servers can't run them (either too slow, don't have curl enabled, etc)
Everyone has different mods you have to consider (SEO, Hidehacks, redirects, Flood Control etc)
Check too many links or if you have shared hosting and everyones using the link checker the server get's IP banned by the File Host eg Rapidshare.
Their'll always be File Hosts with live links that it won't know.
You end up getting bombarded with questions of errors when most of the time it's something they forgot or set wrong. All this work and you end up getting told it doesn't work. CyberJ's right not to release his. It's simple, works and designed for his site. He'll just get a headache if he releases it IMHO. I get headaches at time's from all the questions and DDLShack is giving up on his due to the hassle too.
It's impossible to make a 100% reliable link checker as their are far too many variables out of the designers control.
But i just gave the link to check the product. I installed it in my test forum, and it was working quite well.. But it was not checking the links inside the code box
