But the problem is most of the time they start knowing nothing about what they are doing. If you don’t know what you are doing and don’t have a detailed plan from very the beginning, it’s very hard to get any sort of benefits in the long run. Today I’m going to write about keyword research, which is the very beginning step of SEO. I’ll cover how to do a formal keyword research, tools to use for formal keyword research, Keyword distribution and keyword evaluation. This is gonna take a long time to cover all these steps, so I’ll update the thread time to time and stay tuned to learn in detail about keyword research.
Formal Keyword Research
Keyword research is something which will help you to determine what are the best keywords for you to try to rank for. Suppose you want to create a website to sell mobile phones. You might think that “mobile phone” is the keyword you should target. But from experience you will learn that you made a wrong decision. As it may have got great number of search queries, but its relevance is very low and the competition is very high to rank. Think this way, many people types that keyword for many reasons. They may want know about mobile phones or to check their specs or to service their phone, even they can look for apps or accessories. Not necessarily everyone will type “mobile phone” to buy them. Rather they are going to type in a more specific way, like “cheap mobile phones for sale” or “cheap blackberry W200 for sale”. If you check this keywords carefully you will see, for these keywords you are going to get better targeted traffic with more possibility to buy mobile phones and even these keywords have less competition. These keywords are known as long tail keywords. So, at the very beginning you need to understand these following things-
- What people are typing on search engines – Keywords
- How frequently they are typing – Frequency
- How relevant those keywords are with your business – Relevance
- How much competitive those keywords are- Competition
Oh its already late here, i will write the next paragraph tomorrow. Pardon me for grammatical errors, i was never a good writer :p. Any opinions or suggestions are welcome.
