Is it just me or is everyone on the internet these days english impaired?
Almost 50% of WJunction posts I read are hard to decipher due to bad english.

And no mate, you aren't alone in this, as long as the Indian invasion to WJ remains, you will suffer from reading senseless posts all the time.

Meh, it's just a coloured username, half these people don't even know what respected means these days anyways.

WJ is heavily used by other countries such as Pakistan,India,etc.
Most of them don't know 100% English so yea..
 
Exel, it really depends on what forum your on. Here, yeah, I can't understand half the posts on this forum. Go to a decent graphics, or hacking (I mean decent, not skiddie) community, and you've got decent, readable posts.
 
Well here I am, in the same boat as you guys are in, I get the message written in English alphabets. Sadly, it always takes me minutes to understand it. After many minutes, I say to myself, "oh yeah, its in English".

SO MANY INDIANS MAN!
 
I don't think 50%, anyway some people are still learning English and some people don't speak English so it's fair. WJ is more of a general crowd which can be of any country, I wouldn't say it's just the Indians, there are people from Europe here whose English is fairly poor.
 
I agree with you, but to be honest you can't expect everyone to write proper english. I myself, well, I feel that I don't write good english and I know for sure that my grammar is terrible, but i'd assume people understand what i'm writing about. I've never got any complainst against how i'm typing. At least, if people could stop pretending to be "cool" by typing unfinished word such as "y" instead of "you" i'll be happy. It's way more readable and understandable.

I don't know if asian people gets english lessons or if they doesn't. I suppose everyone, that's going on school should get english lessons due to the large growth in english the last few years. English is definately going to be the only speaking language in the future. We have accepted many english words into our native language as well.

A small tip to everyone who wants to improve their english is to use english on a daily basis. Read english books, read english articles, read alot, type alot, use a translator if there's a word you don't understand or if there's a word you're not sure how's spelled or simply ask the community around you.

It's important to be understood, therefore it's important to write and talk proper english in our time.

I shall quote Elj as this came up in discussion once before. I thought it was good and covers this thread.

you have to understand something, a person that is "weak" in English does not make them a noob, or a kid, it is merely a language barrier and it is actually impressive.

While there are a lot here that speak many languages even to a perfect level, that doesn't make the not so perfect in their second language noobs, it actually means they're smart, after all, they are speaking more than one language.

They might not seem as professional to you as the others, but who knows, in their own "tongue" they might be rocket scientists, so to speak, and their problem is only with the second language. Many leaders, successful and powerful people do not know how to speak English, because it is not a requirement as some think, however, they know how to communicate in basic ways. (eg. Nicolas Sarkozy)

Now here is the only problem I have, if the user speaks amazing Russian, French or what ever language it may be, then they should start their own webmaster forum. This is an English forum, no?
