Heya,

I've recently started seeing mods use the invisible status so that they are
not displayed when they are online which i don't think it's a good idea as
members can not see who is around when they need to ask a mod a question
or if they need some kinda advice, nearly all the moderators are using it
except Mindy and maybe a few other mods but the majority are using the
invisible status and it's a bit annoying because it's like there are no mods online.

Fair play you might say it's to give the mods a break or w.e but the majority
of the mods are using this feature 24/7 or you could say it's useful for catching
offenders or spammers who think that there are no mods online but
the cons outway the pros for mods using the invisible status.

Anyway my suggestion is that this feature is removed for moderators
or it's used with moderation because everytime i look i can't see a single
mod online and it is frustrating for some members when they need someone
to talk to regarding their matters ect...

Regards,
iHate

Reason we have invisible status is.
1, to catch spammers/rule breakers etc.
2, To give us a break lol.
3, If a member has an issue we can still be sent reports/PM's.
4, Even Admins use it. >.>

wd he mentioned all ur points
but i have to support his point..
people usualy pm mod who is online
seeing no mod online just gives bad expresion
u say to catch spammer rule breaker
if mods are continous online they will just dont do it?
better than giving them feel to do and banning is to not let them do in fear>

1. Regarding spammers/rules breakers - would you rather ban half of WJ or would you rather show your presence so that people think twice about doing something against the rules?

2. break? listen... You mods don't get breaks, it's not in your contract :P

3. if a mod is online a user can look which one is online to get a faster response as it could be annoying if that member has to wait like 12 hours because the mod just went bed or is sleeping, also it's annoying for the mods when that member sends out a PM to every single Mod in the forum leaders just to get a fast response.
Edit: regarding the report function it's checked once every few hours unless one of you are on steriods :P

4. Admins i can understand especially Capone because when people see him online its like a vibrator has been shoved up their ass, they all start PMing him and harassing him because he is a celeb here on WJ :P - Regarding V1rgin i hardly ever see him online so i'm not actually counting him in this.

Point 4 apply's to us to iHate. xD
As to 3 i see your point but it's simple to PM all mods someone will reply.
Or as i said report and it will be sorted within 12 hours normally. :)

But you have to question the reason your PM'ing a mod. What are the reasons for sending them a PM. Most are not necessary. If their's a problem report it. If you have a question you can make a topic. As a former staff the trend of PM'ing staff a question is incredibly annoying and just adds to their workload.

I understand that a few of you say that it's annoying because of the PM's ect...

But the pros outweigh the cons
it's like police, when you see them on the street your less likely to steal someone's wallet,
your less likely to do stupidness ect...

The presence of Moderators is needed.

The presence of undercover police is far more successful in most cases. They just get asked annoying things like directions to Wallmart etc. Again unncessary workload.

The presence of moderators exists so their is no question of of that. It's their visibility that's in question.

The objective of undercover police is to arrest people and not to help.

And the people asking for the directions are happy that a officer was there to
help in the simple matters.

Moderators are here to help members with the simple things too
not just to try catch the bad guys.

I faced this three days ago, i had to pm three of them, they were active in CB but didn answered pm, i got a bit confused, i wrote in CB to reply but they didn, then i got mindy online n she solved me but meanwhile 2 hours were gone

Point is when you accept the mod position you accept all the
questions, daily hassle, helping, enforcing rules ect...

You don't accept the position to appear offline all day long
