[Reference Thread]starting streaming website,How much you invest and earn?

Hello Guys

This is my first thread in WJ.I hope this thread will be a reference for every webmaster that wants to start a streaming website.

Now I see that the trending now is videos hosts . they are popping up all around .

And I think it's good to have a part in this trending and growing Market.

I want to make a website and I need your help specialists give me some estimations.

First Off ; I need a script and dedicated server + promotions + Monetizing .

For script what do you think? customized one or pre-made?

Also there are many cheap ones like phpmotion, phpvibe. and expensives like yetishare and Xfilesharing. if pre-made is your choice ,witch one to choose from these.

what configuration is recommended For the dedicated server? where to find best performance and cheapest price?

Promotion? where else to promote other than WJ?

Monetizing ? I think the only way is using in-videos ads +Banners and popups.But most video hosts use only banners and popups . so what ads networks to use?

Opening a new video hosting site could be a good idea. You could promote the website by contacting the administrators of movie sites and ask them to use your platform.
First of all you need a good script, a nice design and a VPS or cloud host capable to do encoding and have a decent unmetered uplink.
You could use PHPVibe as script, of course modified for your needs.

If you don't mind ,can you tell me witch configurations is required in the dedi server. like RAM,CPU,Cores, and storage to start with?

You're welcome! It depends very much on your budget. For example you can start with a cheap Xeon E3 Quad server with 16GB RAM and large disks for the videos. You MUST use RAID and I recommend you using SSD cache for best performance. When you have this server full, you can extend and buy another one. You could also use a cloud server and upgrade it while you grow. The last option would be more efficiend and easier to implement.
