Introducing BoxCP - Revolutionary Server Control Panel

It's not bashing Ryan, not at all. I'm just stating out the obvious. If you want to be taken seriously, you need to use what you've created, even if it's not fully finished. But at least you'd use something you've created. If you're not using it now, how can you expect that someone else will use it when you release it?
I can't agree with you man...
It's still development, so bugs are expected...

If you were building a car, but you haven't tweaked the engine yet, so it can blow up any time, would still go around driving that car just because "Hey man, i built this car therefore i must use it, even tough it might explode"??

It would be stupid if they used cpanel when the final version is out, but for now they should use cpanel (or w/e control panel) they like, until theirs is finished

If something is in the development stage and there is a more established product out there, why would you use the developmental product? l0calh0st is using cPanel because he recognizes that cPanel is better at this point and is a better alternative to BoxCP (which is currently in the development stage). Who is to say he will not switch to BoxCP once it is complete? Sure he should support his own product but he has clearly stated he is not trying to overtake cPanel.

Wrong comparison. You cannot compare a tangible product that has significant risk attached to it with an intangible product/software, that can have a developmental/beta release out before a final/fully functional release is.

In fact, using his own panel on his site would have been a demonstration of sorts.

Regardless, it'll be interesting to see how this panel pans out.

^

How do you know it has no risks? It might have some vulnerabilities that they still need to patch, or stuff that is not tweked yet and can cause the server to crash (=engine explosion)

Man you're stubborn...

They obviously trust in their product, otherwise they would just give up developing it, besides who's to say that they're using a VPS for their forum? Because if they're using a shared hosting they have no control over wich control panel they use...

Who said we don't trust our product ? ... As localhost said its not targeted at shared hosting at all , its targeted at VPS owners. It isnt fully developed into beta stages and wont be for another 2 - 3 weeks and yes , it does have shit load of bugs as any normal beta software would. So please if anyone doesnt have something decent to say , please dont comment.

So Jason is actually saying that we should trust our product in CURRENT stage (which is Beta, google for beta for more information about that.), we can't trust our product currently because it's not finished. (I am talking about bugs and unfinished work.) But the team behind BCP trusts the whole idea and concept. That's it.

Also, sad to see a discussion like this. People like you should be the example, should be the one to respect. But you can't get respected if you don't respect others. Demanding respect won't get you far.

What's so revolutionary there? It's only a simple GUI, all it does is executing commands as root and showing basic statistic.

DirectAdmin costs about $5 a month. There are loads of FREE control panels that are MUCH better than this "contol panel" or however you call it. I don't see why would anyone use that even if you are giving if free of charge.

For those who wanna hate, please come with some suggestions etc. And keep personal/business hatings outside of this. We would like to know what you would like :)

@Krunix

How can you say that anything is better than this when you haven't even tested it? How can you so comprehensibly judge a product that hasn't even seen a public release yet?

I'm actually surprised by the amount of negative comments here. Let them at least release the panel and then we'll all judge its performance.

From what i read, haters are gonna hate...

@Krunix, you know - you run a webhosting business, which is successful, you also have a lot of competition, you know you are not the best, but you are trying to attain that track...

It is the same for us, we know we aint perfect. We know that you might not like this software, we know, we know, we know...

Check features of whatever panel that came out, and see how they started. They never start off with the features they have today.

Guys please either remain on topic, or keep your negatives to your self.

Cheers,
Ryan

ps.

It's only a simple GUI, all it does is executing commands

That is what panels are, they control the software that is running on the hardware, and commands are executed....

Nobody is hatting you. This is a free world and we are just discussing. If you made something better I'm sure people would appreciate it.

Comparing to other WJ hosts, yes, I honestly think KnownSRV is the best. You can just compare the hardware and see the difference.

Of course, but all of them had much more features on the beginning than you have. Everything I see on the screenshot can be easily done by executing simple commands like free, df, uname etc. Why don't you code an option for adding users, bandwidth monitor for each of them etc? We all realize it's a bit harder and you will probably never come up with something like that.

Guys please either remain on topic, or keep your negatives to your self.

What is the point of this thread then?

If you are selling something for $5 a month I'd expect much more. There are much better FREE control panels. Not only that, DirectAdmin is one of the best and most used control panels nowadays and guess what, it costs $5 a month. Come on, even you wouldn't buy BoxCP if you had to choose between BoxCP and DirectAdmin.

@Krunix

Wow, the hate in your message is so strong, its not even funny. This is in development stage i.e more of a pre beta mode. As far as i can see the features are not final yet and they can make loads of changes until the final version is released.

Again, i'm surprised by the conclusive remarks your post has. Please tell me, how can you judge this so comprehensibly when you haven't even tested it? By those 3 screens? So by seeing 3 screens of an app that is in its alpha/pre beta stage, you can say with absolute surety that it wont be worth anyone's money?

Negative comments are justified where they are deserved, hating something just because you can is just being immature. Let them release this, and only then we can make conclusive remarks about this.

Hate? Are you sure you know what it means? I don't hate a control panel, why would anyone hate a control panel? I'm just asking myself what is so revolutionary there, does it really look like hate to you?

Yes, I'm judging it by screenshot and first post. Based on that, I don't see why would anyone pay $5 for that when you can get 90% more with DirectAdmin for the same price.
