Hi there.
I am giving an example.
I am the owner of some forum.I need mods.I tell people that whoever is a moderator of my forum will receive 300 $ a month. Now do i need to make with him/her a labour contract.Do I need to pay coverage as well?Do i need to register my forum as a company and pay taxes on it?!
I mean in the real world, when you go and work somewhere, you need to have a labour contract. It's the law and if you don't follow them you get fined big time.
Please clarify it for me :)

I was talking hypothetically.I don't mean neither warez sites,nor porn sites.Just a normal site.
Example
I own Wjunction.I need mods.I give offer that whoever is a mod will earn 300 $ a month. And i start recruiting mods. Now,after i have recruited them,do i need to have a labour contract with them,or i can just send them 300 $ via paypal alertpay or whatever paying system.CAN I DO that or i can't.
And does anybody have experience about such sites?
I know for a fact that mods at wj don't earn anything but for example on DP forums,i think that mods there earn something, but i don't know whether they have a labour contract or not. :|:|:|

The labour contract issue, concerns to the nation which you and your employees live. But you do not need a contract to hire and pay a moderator, you could just write an email with an informal agreement. No need to waste hard earned money on lawyers and bureaucrats.

Another example.
If you are a mod at neobux, you are given a free golden and ultimate upgrade every year which equals to: 90 $ + 890 $ = 980 $ anually Or in other words you receive goods, money from the owner(you're a mod, thus employee),but do you need to have a labour contract.
I think the answer is that you don't need a labour contract on the internet in general, but i am just asking around,if somebody knows something about labour contracts. :|

Why would I do that for, lol? Srsrly, if you have nothing smart to add, after being smashed like a bug, gtfo..

Don't troll in this thread, making some mindless posts. Also, learn what 'example' word means, before you catch to troll on 300$ a month.

@ OP, no need for any contract. You can have TOS on your site, dedicated to mods. If they agree, they've accepted your way.

I think there are many variables to consider.

Is the person receiving compensation actually an employee or a contractor is the first thing you must establish. If you state it is a contract position and they are independent contractors that should simplify matters.

From there you state they will be paid X amount of money for Y work performed and they are responsible, as a contractor, for any taxes or other with holdings. Some other basic agreements such as termination, code of conduct, expectations, etc. should be included if you are really going to take the time to come up with a contract.

I suggest you talk to a small business counselor, tax professional, or economic development office for the specifics of your location and any legal requirements.

I would only consider this if you have a large income and have the need for paid help though, could be more trouble then it is worth.

Added: Looks like someone is already having a bad day!

So WDF basically what you are saying with the last sentence as well, is that if you have a small site and don't generate much, you should be illegal, without paying taxes to the country, medical coverages, and other ****.But if you are earn big like 10 000 $ legally for example, you should definitely pay every single tax,so that you can stay out of trouble. Right?

It depends on country's laws, and how internet is regulated there. But for example, your 'mods' could be persons sitting right next to you in your office, running a forum. Reddit for example.

@ daveborg, seriously, just turn your brain on and stop this mindless posting. Your first post was based on assertion, that no one in this world pays to moderators, and that every site on internet must be illegal.
There is billions of forums, paying mods, administrators, coders, gfxers etc... Your 'facts' are based on your imagination.

Just one simple search on google:

I think in this case your use of the term illegal is not really fitting. As I said it really does depend on your location and the local laws. As always consult someone locally for accurate information, again as I stated in my previous post.

I do contract work myself, because of my location and that of my clients, I am required by law, as are my clients, to report any income over a set amount annually to the tax authorities. Many of my clients I get 1 off work from and do not earn that set amount so they are not obligated to report it, some do and some don't, however I am. As a contractor I am responsible for paying income taxes and other income and self employment related taxes and fees.
