Yes, the i7 requires triple channel memory, but there isn't really much of a difference performance-wise between 6gb (triple channel) and 8gb (dual channel), because most software can not fully utilize triple channel ram yet. You will be able to use the full 8GB of ram but in dual channel mode.

And I think WS just advertises 4, 8, and 12 because some people would be like "wtf you only get 6gb of ram now and not 8" but i'm sure if you contacted worldstream they will give you a custom setup. Thanks for the info, I suppose thats right. I contacted them and they said either way, they but 8gb in but it will only use 6 unless you change the config.
