Incoming DDoS attack

Hmmm i thought Knownsrv already had a system in place to deal with DDOS attacks....

We can block attacks to a certain level from our end. His attack was almost 1gbps. If you check USA DDoS protected providers(with hardware firewalls) you would realize 1gbps ddos mitigating costs over $2k / month.

He can run CSF, but it won't help. It's almost 1gbps and can't be blocked on the VPS level. Solution was suggested to OP, please follow-up the support ticket.

unfortunately , if the man has some power you screwed.
you can try to use all the scrips you want..

i suggest you to see where is the attack coming from ,
usually from same country, or ip range.. so block that.

As explained before:

DoS = Denial of Service.
DDoS = Distributed Denial of Service.

Both effectively consume your bandwidth to the point where your server canot handle any more incoming connections, and you are thus "denied service".

DoSes are a piece of cake. DDoSes are a pain in the arse because it could be thousands of IP addresses, in which case, its a tedious and repetetive job to sort it (if you can even get into some kinda ACP).

You are usually targeted for a reason. People don't usually random-attack websites. You indicated that you have been in contact with the offender. I suggest speaking with him and trying to resolve the problem. You can't really "explain" how to stop these attacks. It requires a whole bunch of "know-how" and "trying" to put a stop to it.

Mitigating attacks is true as you said, a very "know-how" filled experience don't be fooled by software firewalls etc an attack of such sizes well, are not fun to say the least.

you can ask knownsrv to configure csf they are managed services so they wont deny

install cloudflare it wont help today but for future it will minimize it.
If u know his website you can always redirect ur traffic to him
