Ideas for WJ Marketing!

^ If you remove warez from WJ it just becomes a much smaller copy of Digital Point.

I like Mindy's second idea of getting an ad slot on Rlslog and you should go for SceneSource as well. I think the only thing preventing the site from growing is exposure. It's already a great forum with loads of things going for it. Not enough people know about it though...

Other webmasters would not care about warez being talked about.. Aslong as there product is not being advertised saying "download this here!"...

These webmasters are dumb cuz if they make friends with warez owners then they could easily get there stuff removed.. Its not like warez sites are made up of only 1 brand of products.. 1 download would barely dent a site..

As for how to market the best you really could do is join sites and add wjunction to your sig or just talking to people about it.. Ads are just gonna bring the bad people in unless its a ad on another webmaster forum..

I dont know how to attract more developers and SEO experts - but if you offer gfx designers an opportunity to make money (which already exists here) as well as a fun place to show off their work and be in competitions, they will come. We need to have 'Sig of the Month/Week/whatever' and "Photo Manipulation of the ..." comps. This will draw new talent.

Another Comp could be "site of the week" where maybe 5 sites are showcased and voted in various areas such as Logo, Layout, domain name, etc...

VIP or Respected Members could run the comps (so that mods aren't given even more to do) and we can use donated prizes (gfx designers could donate logo work or hosts could offer a week of hosting, etc...) This gives people a reason to participate and the donator a chance to get free exposure or just to donate back to the community.

Im not a warez person i could care less, I download movies everynow and then via torrents

and i mean look @ my post count & reg date :p

Thats what i`m saying, there is much more to this forum then the word "warez" , thats why i`m thinking it can be pretty usefull ;)

Do we have any creative designers on board who could hook us up with some cool/creative banners so we could reach other webmasters?

^
You got balls :D

And I don't know.. I would hate to see this place get filled with more kids that want to learn to upload for cash.
I welcome all developers, designers and webmasters.
Just no more kids

In order to successfully recruit/gain original webmasters who dis-associate themselves from the "warez" realm, you would first have to:

  • Re-format the rules and regulations.
  • Appoint a dedicated user(s) in specific fields of expertise not solely for moderation but to teach its fan base about the given Critice.
  • Maybe switch the Respected user group from Respected Member to another title that reflects leadership.
  • Look into another Domain name which excludes the word warez.
  • Censor curse words like ... F*ck, Gt*o, etc..
  • Bring the "Can View Chat-box" number of posts or days of membership guidelines back into effect to eliminate spammers.
  • Host more competitions such as "Win a domain" by....
  • Buy ad spots on webmaster forums like DP.
  • Ask other webmasters here to add banners to their site for marketing purposes and a large user base.
  • Look into a new skin, banner, gfx in general.
  • Re-arrange the forums so it doesn't look cluttered by uploaders and money hungry *******.
  • Etc Etc

There are many many things you guys can do to market this forum. It has unlimited potential, And I can see it growing by the numbers rapidly.

Good Luck, WJ <3 4lif3 :D

How would you market WJ?

I would start some kind of funny youtube channel about being a webmaster. Maybe have a good looking lady to help out?

There are too many serious youtube channels about internet marketing, so why not something funny.

Personally I do not think it's a good idea to "spam" the forum on other forums or something similiar.

Members come from either Google or friends which I like very much.

It's not a bad idea. It is possible to market by creating guides and so on youtube

I run a youtube channel that is over 4 years old and has 400 of my own homemade videos.

Youtube + facebook can be a powerful tool. Create a facebook page, put a link at the top of the forum to your facebook page and ask people to subscribe.

Instead of sending out news letters, post updates on your faceobok page, and left facebook syndicate the post out to your subscribers.

When you post a link to a youtube video on facebook, facebook will embed the video on your page. If you have a link in the video description at youtube, you get that link in your facebook post as well.

One of my videos. I used to audio swap feature on youtube for the background music, so no worries about copyright infringement

Me and RT used to host SOTM.

There were so few participants that we stopped doing it.
