If you're using cPanel (assuming you are the cPanel end user and not a WHM provider), you shouldn't have to do anything in DNS except to set nameservers.

Register the nameserver IPs on the domain at the registar.

eg. at namecheap enter you ip/s for ns1. ns2.

Goto WHM nameserver config page and add them.

eg. WHM Basic setup, enter created nameservers.
