maybe itl sound weird, but you should look at the other side of the coin - people who buy, they fell as if they can do something with it.

i know most say/think that they dont have time for the site and its the reason they are selling , but why sell ??

try to get other people to work on your site and to get a cut from revenue / other value.
even if they are total n00bz they generate content, feel gr8 and expect to make good work for respect & cash.

btw, im not talking about non scalable sites, with no content that was obviasly made for that 50$ sale, lolz.

whats your opinion ?

in katz era people create a site wait till site raise to 4 stars rank or + and sell it ...and repete the process, i remember to hate that but anyway was not my bussiness

What if you need some cash urgently? You would do anything to avoid debts/being in troubles. The same goes for car/house..

However you still have a good point which I fully agree with.

What Jesse said and to learn more stuff. Your interest changes time to time. There could be more reasons such as need money, no money to pay server, health problems, family problems, done with webmaster etc.....

could be , thats a known problem with not only sites, but many project, even not on the internet.
therfore my suggestion still helps, if i own somthing generally i would like it to improve and make steady income, even if i get less control on it.

the reason i talk about this, is because i have very ongoing life, and many ideas i started , with some made threw and running , some i just dont have time, so i prefer some1 will take it and make something from it 9 from both of us ;) )

you are right, but i do think that most ppl selling, just thought its easy to put a site and make rev, but find out the "truth" and had no power moving on , and here is the fail. its more logical (not easy at all) to keep going with the sites but make other pump it and take a piece.

Well, in most cases it sounds hypocritical, but i once was in that position. I had to sell a site that was only 2* at katz and was getting a lot more traffic then some 5* did. It had a lot of potential, but if you don't have your mind on it and give it some time, the site will go down.
And that raises the question.. Why not sell it now that it gets 15 thousand daily visitors and wait until you have time again and if that time never comes, then sell it for free.

yes i do know , about emotions, your super right, as im familiar with the situation of giving up on somthing even when its not logical .
person should not get "touched" by his site , but make profit from it ,
the thing is , if he dont care at all, you end up selling a website for 50$ :]
for me this is not profit,
i see it more appealing to get 30 admins to different niche sites , about topics they like , if they have passion (as most starters do) , it will get profitable.
then you get your precentage, and by all means, lots of power due to eyeballs.

you get sick , you buy tissues and make content ( or some1 else to do it ) :P

good point man,
if you could get 2 induviduals , that would love to get "into the web world" to maintain your site , and love doing it..
(example - younger cousin for say)

where do you think the site would be today ?

well
there are many reasons why people sell their site
the best one i consider, people like to see their own site live rather then DIE

The site is still online, it has over 40k members and at this moment, there are about 450 people browsing it.
But this is because i sold it to a great administrator, he took great care in it. Leaving it for somebody to run just doesn't feel right. He/she wouldn't apply the same care to it.

liked the answer ,

if he got 50% of it without buying ..
