you're gonna have to keep yourself updated with googles update. one thing i've learn about seo is to have rich fresh content articles and with keywords. this is just the basic though. start by social media and inter linking pages of your site.
You must to learn about SEO first. To do this, you should visit some of best blogs/websites about SEO such as: moz.com, searchengineland.com, searchenginewatch.com, searchenginejournal.com,...then try to setup your own website with specific content, choosing keywords to do practice. The best way to learn SEO is to do many practice with real website and real content.
