How to protect board from MPU

Hi

I'm facing problem with alot of spam on my boards (phpbb3 and vb)
The problem are spammers posting from MPU (Multi Poster Ultimate) or related appz.

How to protect forums from such of spam ?

1) Have CAPTCHA in the registration page.
2) Enable email activation.
3) In phpBB set different permissions for "Newly Registered Member" group..don't let them create topics.

I'm using the same settings on my vBulletin forum, and I had no problems regarding the spam, and about phpBB I have no idea how to keep 'em out, sorry.

banning all users from specific country in not the solution.

i thought about similar solution like have w-bb, captcha durring posting topic
but i cant find proper phpbb3 mod for that.

you need to have new thread captcha for vbulletin and php..

i have made captcha for new thread in vbulletin, if i get time i will release in vbulletin.org soon.

Why don't you simply use the Q&A captcha. it will decrease the number of spammers to zero and it's built in phpBB3 so there's no need for any code changes.
