How to know whether a movie is fake or not?

You need to check imdb if the movie has released world wide or not.
Secondly you can download the movie on the rapidleech and then use the movie thumbnail creator.
Or lastly you can use a remote desktop where you can download the movie and watch for its content.

It's 90% common sense. If a movie hasn't being released in the cinema generally it's a fake. Use IMDB.com know know when a movie is released. What you can do is visit Warez-BB and check if it's their. If it's not posted their then it's a fake. WBB are pretty fast at removing fakes so it's a great indicator.

Don't always trust IMDB though. Sometimes the movie comes out before it's supposed to so double check the official movie site to see when it's released. Also check torrents too that's a good place to find if it's out.

check IMDB and see id there is there are dvd details for the movie in the left side menu, check the set release date for the movie. search amazon or other online dvd stores. if the movie isn't listed there than there is no DVD and all the DVDRip releases are fake.

i normally go through the info that is given.And also screens reflect that its fake or not...

one friend was searching twilight dvdrips got it and when he played the movie it was an old indian movie may be produced in 1960 hahaha!this is kinda funny sometime

Well, first of all sorry for bumping an old topic, but it'd save me from making another thread of the same topic.
How do I exactly know whether the movie release is fake or not ? I do not have a RL/RDP and my internet speed sucks so I cannot download each release which people post on rapidscene.ws
I do check it on PreDB.com, OrlyDB.com, dup3.me, AfterPre.com and many others. Most of the time I do not find it, then I goto katz.cd and search there and I see about 6-7 submissions of the same movie and then I submit it.
So, is there any way which could save my time ? I mean a source which could be simply trusted ?
Also, I have a idea in my to make a website for only movie releases. The site would scrape results from some popular pre-db sites and show that it is a valid release.
Example :
I search for "Twilight" on the site. The script would take this query, search on many pre-dbs (I'll provide the sources) and then for every find, just add the % to the result. If "Twilight" release was found on 6 pre-dbs out of 10, then mark the result as having "60% valid release" or something like that and show it to the user who searched it.
This would save time <3

It's dam near impossible to make a script to check if it's fake or not. I made one for MechoDDL which highlights movies in the Admin Queue which haven't been released yet according to imdb.com.
It helps a bit but can only be used as a guide as loads of times imdb is inaccurate. eg American Release date which for some bizarre reason it gets released earlier in Europe first on DVD instead of cinema. Doesn't work for workprints also and some DVD Screeners. Most often it is out in cinemas but the fake post is a DVD and no CAM or TS is out yet.
The thing which made this script easy to make is people submit clean titles to DDL sites the exact same way they appear on imdb so it never picks the wrong movie.
Now when you go adding crazy DVDrip-XviD-VOMiT-PROPPER stuff or even worse re-encodes like 300MB SCORP it gets tricky to find what the real name from a coding point of view.
Lots of uploaders used to do "Disney Pixars UP(2009)" as an example as UP is such a short common word it never showed up in search results. You can't make a script that will identify these. Other examples is Jim Carey - Yes Man (2009)

Trust me it's extremely difficult to detect if something hasn't being released yet if it's a script on a regular forum as the variety of titles in endless.
As for places to search. I wouldn't recommend Katz as they can be slow to remove them when reported by email. Warez-BB is much faster and you can just search titles generally as it will return all results. Even in the unlikely event you fine a topic just before it's removed it will have negative replies. It will also only return 2-3 results at best and the guys who made the topics will have less than 100 posts so it's very easy to tell on WBB. I must give credit to the Warez-BB staff. They have a very fast response time.
I do have otherr ideas I'm working on which will hopefully reduce the amount of fake downloads on sites but due to other projects they are still some time off.
