How to increase quality traffic to forum

Hey, what's the best way to increase quality traffic to my forum:

I have been finding it difficult, mainly because documentaries are not all that popular in the warez world. But I figured it would be possible to carve out a niche (there is only one other major documentary forum I found).

The forum is SEO optimised but is getting very little google traffic at the moment (I only have 100 or so posts though).

Would it be a good idea to submit to ddl sites? and are there any other ideas you might care to share.

Upload Scene Releases. Provide some uniqie content like x264 movies/TV shows uploaded at rapidshare / Megaupload if you don't care about $

I don't see any SEO optimization in your site. Try adding robots.txt, submitting your sitemap into your google webmasters account.

And if you want quality traffic, please don't submit to DDL sites.
 
@tehlolkid: Thanks for the reply. I'll look into it not being seo optimised... I used ppbb3-seo mod..

but thanks for the info on the ddl sites, i was thinking about submitting to them... but I'm more interested in getting quality traffic

Edit: unfortunately I must upload to FSC and not RS or MU because otherwise I wouldnt be able to pay server costs... I could implement advertisements on my site... but that would be annoying for everyone and would get less income that uploading to FSC.
 
I'd suggest you to go for off-page optimization for long-term benefits. If you're looking for a quick and free traffic generator, you can try traffup - http://traffup.net to get free visitors from all over the world.
 
For start, work on the page titles.

Index forum title: "DivX Documentary Download"
Forum title: "Announcements Forum"
Thread title: "Forum Start Date"

Forum names and descriptions:

BBC DivX Documentaries - Latest DivX and HD BBC Documentaries available for free download.
Channel 4 DivX Documentaries - Latest DivX and HD Channel 4 Documentaries available for free download.
ITV DivX Documentaries - Latest DivX and HD ITV Documentaries available for free download.
National Graphic DivX Documentaries - Latest DivX and HD National Graphic Documentaries available for free download.
Discovery Channel DivX Documentaries - Latest DivX and HD Discovery Channel Documentaries available for free download.
History Channel DivX Documentaries - Latest DivX and HD History Channel DivX Documentaries available for free download.
Unknown and Foreign DivX Documentaries - Latest DivX and HD Unknown/Foreign Documentaries available for free download.

You do not need two sections for unknown and foreign documentaries, put them in the same category. Just require members to post the tag "[eng]" if it has english subtitles or not.

PDF Books - Latest books in the PDF format available for free download.
Audio Books - Latest books in the Audio format available for free download.

DivX Movies - Latest DivX and 720p Movies available for free download.
DivX TV Series - Latest DivX and 720p episodes of the popular TV series available for free download.

Request a DivX Documentary - Request any documentary that you'd like to download for free.
Other Requests - Request DivX movies, tv shows, and pdf/audio books that you'd like to download for free.

Now, go to your template - viewforum_body.html

Find:
<h2><a href="{U_VIEW_FORUM}">{FORUM_NAME}</a></h2>

Replace with:
<h2><strong><a href="{U_VIEW_FORUM}">{FORUM_NAME}</a></strong> {FORUM_DESC}</h2>

It looks like this:

You can obviously customize it by your needs, e.g. to put it in a table, to wrap it in borders, or to change the size, color, etc.

Now, go to viewtopic_body.html

Find:
<h2><a href="{U_VIEW_TOPIC}">{TOPIC_TITLE}</a></h2>

Replace with:
<h2><strong>{TOPIC_TITLE}</strong> - DivX, DVDRiP Free Download</h2>

It looks like this:

This obviously isn't the full optimization guide for phpBB, but I guess this will get you going to change the meta descriptions, page titles, and such.
