Hi Wjunction,
I wrote a few posts about the importance of performing regular maintenance on your site (both for SEO and to improve user experience), and was wondering how many and how often you guys perfor the following:
  • Repairing broken links
  • Taking backups of your site data/content
  • Checking your content to ensure it's not outdated or containing errors
  • Security audits/updates to your CMS

If you don't, please leave a comment on why not - I wrote a few posts on how these processes can be automated but I'm curious to know why people don't do this more often (I'm guessing the results are going to be grim, but who knows :cough: )

I use the built in link checker for dead links about once a week. Sometimes I'll be preoccupied and lapse for a little while though. Backups and CMS updates are automatic, so I don't have to remember those.

I create new posts every day and do back-ups and maintenance every week. It takes around 4 or 5 hours per day.

Backups: Every 1 hour.
Broken links: 24 hours
Security check: real time

These are regular task for system administrator, which can easily scheduled/automized via cronjobs in linux.
