Dual Quad Core Xeon E5620 SR
8 X 2.53ghZ, 2 X 12MB CACHE
16 CPUS
2 X 2TB hard drive (or what kinda hard drive setup should I do what raid?)
48 GB DD3 RAM
1 GBit Dedicated Port (Roughly they will get 10mbit/s each)
Not sure on the control panel yet, if anyone is good at setting up vps nodes let me know, I'm willing to give you a vps for a year for setting it up, or pay you, I would actually like to learn how to set it up so that would be a plus.

You have two options.
1. No Overselling
2. Deliberately Overselling

If you go with 1. then you can have 90 VPS with 512MB RAM (the rest 6X512 = 3GB = Burstable) Or 45 VPS with 1 GB RAM.

4 TB HDD, so you can have 4096 GB ie, 90 VPS with 5512MB RAM and 45GB HDD.

But you'll have to think about the CPU.

If you go with option 2. then you can have 150+ VPS.

Yeah I would rather be under then over, so no overselling at all.

I would rather do 2 GB dedicated ram, at 24 per server, or should I leave a little extra and do maybe 20-22 per server.

What type of drive setup though, should I get a raid, or just go with 2 x 2TB hard drives?

Yeah CPU could be a issue but I was thinking .05 - 1ghz per person on average, that's why maybe do 20 per server max.

CPU may create an issue later on if you get massive amounts of clients, ready to use their VPS in peak time.

So I'd recommend that you lower the server config a little (the RAM & HDD) and keep the CPU Power same and then adjust the RAM & HDD per VPS. That'd save your money + everything would go smooth.

It depends on their resource usage, you can't get near 150(don't be crazy) unless most of them idle.

You have a good CPU and loads of RAM. However, drives are the bottleneck here. I/O is most imprortant when it comes to VPS Nodes. Hence, you should go for at least 4x 7.2k RPM SATA2(standard) drives in RAID10, or even 8. 4x 15k RPM SAS would be prefered though.

You should get 2-4 more drives, with H/W Raid10 and you'll be able to take advantage of the fast CPU and 1Gbit port. The hard disk I/O will be the problem with your current config.

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking, I was thinking of starting with 10 vps servers and see how the cpu, ram, and drives perform

Sorry to ask here but can i make profit from renting a dedicated server and then provide vps service out of it?

Did you own the server or a reseller? <---a faq question lol..
