How do you put custom firmware on your PSP Slim & Lite 2000?

what if I want to upgrade CF or update to the lastest offical sony psp firmware? Aslo where do you put the game files like ISO's etc...

Thanks, I really am desperate to install custom firmware, but im a bit of a wuss and don't want to brick, are there are risks in converting a normal battery to Pandora?
